Removal of First Class on CrossCountry Turbostar fleet

 A message from CrossCountry

Please see below an update for Cross Country in respect to their Turbostar trains that operate between Cardiff and Nottingham, Birmingham and Stansted Airport, and Birmingham and Leicester.

Removal of First Class on CrossCountry Turbostar fleet.

As part of CrossCountry’s refurbishment programme of their Turbostar fleet, the First-Class area on board these trains will be removed from Sunday 15 December to align with the December timetable change and the first of the refurbished units entering service shortly afterwards.

Following the change going live, the existing units will start to be modified to remove internal first-class signage whilst the saloon partition doors will be isolated and locked open. As each train is refurbished, the saloon partition doors will be permanently removed, and all interior and exterior First-Class signage will be removed.

The more spacious First-Class seat pitch and table will remain the same, and there may be some variation in seating colours in this area as the refurbishment programme progresses.

First Class fares have been made unavailable for purchase on Turbostar services for travel from Sunday 15 December, where deemed appropriate, and are no longer visible in retail systems. Where some of the journey can be completed in First Class with CrossCountry or another operator have been retained.

Please note First Class will remain available until the changeover date, up to and including Saturday 14 December.

Some customers may be affected as they may have a First-Class ticket for a journey on or after Sunday 15 December 2024 such as a Season ticket. Any affected customers about the changes are advised to contact the original retailer of their ticket to seek guidance on refunds and any other arrangements as appropriate.
